UPCOMING TREATS OF 2017

Following a successful term, 2017 is set to be a fantastic year of kabaddi with a jam-packed series of events planned for the upcoming months!

NHSF Nationals 2017 - Saturday 18th February

Nationals is one of the biggest events of the year 'kabaddi kalendar', with over 500 people from across the country coming down to Tipton Sports Academy in Birmingham to compete. Imperial’s 1st team will face the pressure of continuing their two-year unbeaten streak as the back-to-back national champions. The Imperial 2nds will not make this easy on their counterparts and are hungry for a win after their success in the London Zone tournament!

With two Imperial teams potentially competing against each other in the final stages, this promises to be a spectacular event for the club...and we plan on staying down in Birmingham for the whole weekend for some action after!

VARSITY - Saturday March 4th

For the first time in the club’s history, IC Kabaddi have been invited to host a showcase 40-minute Kabaddi match at Imperial Varsity 2017! The match will see a nail biting clash between the Imperial Medics (led by Oishik Raha) who are eager to exact revenge on the Non-Medic competition (led by Rikeen Jobanputra).

The kabaddi derby is one of the most hard-fought games of the 'kabaddi kalendar'. With a chance to win bragging rights for the second year running, Non-Medics will embrace the challenge presented by the Medics who will not go down without a fight.

This is a huge honour for the club and one that we look forward to. Varsity is going to be ace this year with hundreds of Imperial students competing in the biggest sporting event of the year. You will not want to miss out!

KABADDI TOUR - Spring Term

It will be crazy. It will be out of this world. It will be bloody fantastic!

Brace yourselves for the ultimate social - kabaddi on tour!

We will raid on the beaches and leg grab our way through a weekend of competition, bonding, and absolute madness. Watch this space!

NEW KIT - January

For many new players who have joined the club this year, the orders for the kit have been processed and is in the hands of Krusada, our suppliers. They are due around the end of January in time for Nationals. So, you'll have a chance to don your kit and train before the competitions.

Furthermore, we've ordered new kabaddi mat shoes (along with LSE, KCL and University of Birmingham) from a supplier for the ProKabaddi league. The club is at a stage where we are becoming recognised in the international kabaddi scene, and this is a step for us in taking the sport to a new professional level. The shoes will be used in training sessions and matches against the aforementioned teams.

Hopefully, this sets a new precedent whereby the entire kabaddi university circuit will set their sights on acquiring shoes.
