WINTER SOCIALS

The freshers, joined by some of our senior-most, set the standards high with October’s Fresher Challenge. Knightsbridge became their oyster as raiders of the not so lost ark took to a number of bizarre tasks – from doing press ups amongst a bemused crowd to pole dancing that would put Pole & Aerial Society to shame (yes, Sanjay) the team bonding became tighter than the leg grab of dreams. Come November, the Kabaddi Cup was conquered – after true team spirit in peeling tape, we took over Southside for a Night (of pres) to Remember. Game after game was played and shot after shot was poured – a special mention to a specific fresher who discovered that vodka was rather potent and went on to prove this by proclaiming his love for a certain thigh slapping member of this team. You know who you are. Despite our crowd thinning out towards Fulham, the party was not to be killed and we rocked up to reclaim the evening at Belushi’s (cheap Jagerbombs, okay??).

Fast forward to the week before London Zone and an evening of sparkle, swoosh and sexiness was upon us – Kabaddi on Ice. As most of us attempted to just stay up on the ice, some of us proved that where you come from does not have to define you. If an Australian can glide backwards on ice like a true Aussie Express, then you, my friend, can do anything. After a day of frustration and victory in Southall, we celebrated as a team the only way that would be fitting – a proper Southall curry house (it’s just naan btw, not naan bread), which saw us eat, drink, and be merry (apologies to the guy who looked like he was to propose).

The Christmas spirit swelled in us and let to the Christmas Kabaddinner – many pints were handed out, many wonderful clothes were worn and the freshers completed their initiations with grit and citric acid. The whole team then took over The Slug – hail the new Kabaddi gender ratio – and danced it out (watch out for Keshav’s new skill – the slut drop) as one big family. The term drew to a chilled out close with the Fantasy Kabaddi League and an admiration of Oishik’s Excel skills – there was tension, there was suspense and there was total dignity, so congratulations to the winners (Sumant and Karmanya)!

It has been a pleasure to be your social secretaries this year which only makes us more excited for next term (just you wait). Here’s wishing y’all a very merry Christmas and a wonderful new year!

Kabaddi love,

Josh, Keshav & Srav
